Keno was created in two hundred BC by the Chinese military commander, Cheung Leung who utilized keno as a way to finance his declining forces. The city of Cheung was waging a battle, and after a bit of time seemed to be looking at a national famine with the dramatic decrease in supplies. Cheung Leung had to create a fast fix for the economic calamity and to acquire revenue for his army. He, as it follows invented the game we know today as keno and it was a great success.

Keno was referred to as the White Pigeon Game, due to the fact that the winning numbers were sent out by pigeons from bigger locations to the smaller villages. The lotto ‘Keno’ was brought to the USA in the 1800s by Chinese expatriates who migrated to the States to jobs. In those times, Keno used one hundred and twenty numbers.

Today, Keno is generally enjoyed with just 80 numbers in a majority of American land based casinos as well as internet casinos. Keno is commonly enjoyed today because of the relaxed nature of playing the game and the basic fact that there are no skills needed to play Keno. Regardless of the reality that the odds of getting a win are horrible, there is constantly the possibility that you might hit quite large with little gambling investment.

Keno is enjoyed with eighty numbers with 20 numbers picked each game. Players of Keno can pick from two to 10 numbers and wager on them, as much or as little as they are able to. The payout of Keno is according to the wagers made and the matching of numbers.

Keno grew in popularity in the United States near the close of the 1800’s when the Chinese letters were changed with , American numbers. Lottos were not covered under the legalization of gaming in the state of Nevada in 1931. The casinos renamed the ‘Chinese lottery’ to ‘horse race keno’ utilizing the idea that the numbers are horses and you want your horses to come in. When the Nevada government passed a law that taxed off track gambling, the casinos quickly altered the name to ‘Keno’.
