Keno was introduced in 200 before Christ by the Chinese army leader, Cheung Leung who utilized this game as a way to finance his failing forces. The city of Cheung was waging a war, and after a bit of war time appeared to be looking at a country wide famine with the drastic decrease in supplies. Cheung Leung had to come up with a fast response for the financial disaster and to produce money for his army. He therefore invented the game we now know as keno and it was a fantastic success.
Keno was referred to as the White Pigeon Game, due to the fact that the winning numbers were sent out by pigeons from bigger locations to the lesser towns. The lotto ‘Keno’ was imported to the United States in the 19th century by Chinese immigrants who headed to the US to work. In those times, Keno was played with one hundred and twenty numbers.
Today, Keno is most often played with 80 numbers in most of the US land based casinos along with web casinos. Keno is mainly loved today as a result of the relaxed nature of playing the game and the basic reality that there are little skills required to play Keno. Regardless of the reality that the odds of succeeding are horrible, there is constantly the chance that you could win quite big with very little gambling investment.
Keno is played with eighty numbers and twenty numbers are drawn each round. Gamblers of Keno can choose from 2 to ten numbers and bet on them, whatever amount they are able to. The pay out of Keno is dependent on the bets made and the matching of numbers.
Keno has grown in popularity in the US since the end of the 19th century when the Chinese characters were replaced with , American numbers. Lottos were not covered under the laws of wagering in Nevada State in 1931. The casinos altered the name of the ‘Chinese lotto’ to ‘horse race keno’ utilizing the concept that the numbers are horses and you want your horses to place. When a law passed that levied a tax on off track wagering, the casinos quickly adjusted the name to ‘Keno’.
