It won’t ordinarily be deemed the funnest game in the arena of gambling, but keno has massive amounts of dedicated admirers. And why not? It’s a constantly entertaining lotto-esque game that’s a snap to play, abundantly available in tons of assorted styles, and one that may pay out mega-dollars for players who master its uncounted subtle nuances. But let’s begin with the basic rules here.

When explaining keno to newbies, some wagering pros compare it to bingo. This is at least partially correct, in that each game is basically numerical. Yet to take that comparison too far is likely to be to discount the innumerable unique characteristics that make keno so entertaining. Unlike bingo, keno enthusiasts have the freedom to select the numbers for each and every card.

Keno cards have a grand total of 80 numbers, but the player is accord an increased level of personal responsibility by being able to determine as numerous (or as few) numbers as he thinks is appropriate. And it doesn’t take a nuclear physicist to come up with how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all of your selected numbers with a standardmarker like you had when you were in grade 3.

Once you’ve marked your numbers, carry your game card back to the nice person at the keno stand. The nice person will record those numbers and then give you a receipt. Don’t lose this (potentially) valuable piece of paper! Even if the clerk remembers your face and wants help out, without a winning receipt in hand, you will be given precisely $.00 for your winning card.

And there you have strategy #1: always make sure to keep your keno receipt. Let’s advance to something a little bit more advanced, ok?

Now that you’ve picked your numbers, get into a comfortable keno booth and observe the action take place on the keno monitor. That’s where the winning numbers appear in lights. If you have winners, mark your card appropriately. Sake care not to move to slowly, or sit there congratulating yourself for too great a length of time. You must get up to the keno booth to redeem your winnings, and a new round of keno will almost certainly get going within not too many minutes.

Strategy #2: always go back to the keno booth on time!

Assuming you can’t trust yourself to beat that five-minute deadline each time, you always have the option of purchasing a "multi-race" card. These include the self same set of your desired numbers on anywhere from 2 to twenty slips. When the maximum amount of rounds (fitting the number of tickets) is played, you should then get off your numb bum and go redeem your winnings.

Yet an additional choice is referred to as a "stray and play" keno slip, which usually allows you make number choices for thirty rounds or more. Hell, you can take an ocean cruise and not have to fret about getting back in time to retrieve your numbers. Most "stray and play" game tickets are good for up to a whole year after it’s bought!

However, it will never hurt to brush up on the fundamentals, and if you are a newbie gambler, every little bit of direction will help make your keno games more enjoyable.
