Keno was introduced in 200 before Christ by the Chinese army leader, Cheung Leung who used keno as a monetary resource for his failing army. The city of Cheung was waging a war, and after awhile of war time seemed to be looking at a national shortage of food with the drastic drop in supplies. Cheung Leung needed to create a quick fix for the economic calamity and to acquire money for his army. He thusly invented the game we now know as keno and it was a great success.

Keno once was referred to as the White Pigeon Game, due to the fact that the winning numbers were delivered by pigeons from larger cities to the lesser towns. The lotto ‘Keno’ was imported to America in the 19th century by Chinese immigrants who migrated to the US to work. In those times, Keno was played with 120 numbers.

Today, Keno is generally bet on with 80 numbers in almost all of the US brick and mortar casinos as well as online casinos. Keno is commonly enjoyed today as a consequence of the laid back nature of playing the game and the simple fact that there are little skills needed to enjoy Keno. Despite the reality that the odds of coming away with a win are terrible, there is always the possibility that you might hit quite large with little gaming investment.

Keno is played with 80 numbers and 20 numbers are picked each game. Enthusiasts of Keno can pick from 2 to ten numbers and wager on them, as much or as little as they want to. The pay out of Keno is according to the bets made and the roll out of matching numbers.

Keno grew in acceptance in the United States near the end of the 1800’s when the Chinese letters were changed with more familiar, US numbers. Lottos were not covered under the legalization of gambling in the state of Nevada in 1931. The casinos changed the name of the ‘Chinese lottery’ to ‘horse race keno’ employing the idea that the numbers are horses and you want your horses to come in. When a law passed that levied a tax on off track gambling, Nevada casinos swiftly altered the name to ‘Keno’.
