It might not usually be considered the sexiest game in the arena of gambling, but keno has massive amounts of passionate enthusiasts. And it should! It’s a constantly exciting lotto-like game that’s easy to learn, readily available in many alternate variations, and one that will return millions of dollars for gamblers who learn its limitless subtle rules. But let’s start with the basic rules for now.

When explaining keno to newcomers, some betting masters compare it to bingo. This is at least partly apt, in that each game is basically numerical. But to take that comparison too far can be to undervalue the countless unique characteristics that make keno so exciting. Unlike bingo, keno players have the power to choose the numbers for each card.

Keno cards have a total of 80 numbers, but the user is given an extra level of personal responsibility by being able to select as many (or as few) numbers as he or she needs. And it doesn’t take a nuclear physicist to determine how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark each of your selected numbers with a normalball point pen like you had back in the day.

Once you have selected your numbers, take your card back to the girl at the keno booth. The person will record those numbers and then hand you a receipt. Do not lose this (potentially) expensive piece of paper! Even if the clerk remembers your face and would like to help out, without a winning ticket on you, you will collect precisely $.00 for your actions.

Now there you have strategy #1: always take care to keep your keno slip. Let us go on to something a little bit more useful, shall we?

Now that you’ve marked your numbers, settle into a comfy keno booth and see the action unfold on a big video monitor. That is where the winning numbers appear for all to see. If you checked winning numbers, mark your card aptly. Be sure not to take your time, or sit there congratulating yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You want to get up to the keno stand to collect your winnings, since a new round of keno will probably begin within a few minutes.

Strategy #2: always make sure to get back to the keno stand on time!

Since you don’t trust yourself to beat that five-minute deadline every time, you always have the option of purchasing a "multi-race" ticket. These include the self same set of your chosen numbers on anywhere from 2 to twenty tickets. When the maximum amount of games (the same as the number of tickets) is played out, you are then able to get off your numb back side and go get your winnings.

Yet an additional opportunity is known as a "stray and play" keno card, which usually allows you make number selection for 30 keno rounds or more. Heck, you can take a world tour and not have to worry about getting back in time to get your numbers. Most "stray and play" game tickets are good for up to a whole year after it’s bought!

However, it does not hurt to brush up on the fundamentals, and if you are a novice player, every little bit of information will help make your keno playing time more enjoyable.
