It may not commonly be looked at as the best game in the realm of gambling, but keno has millions of steadfast players. As well it should! It’s a consistently exciting lotto-ish game that’s uncomplicated to master, abundantly available in a number of different styles, and one that may yield mega-dollars for players who learn its uncounted subtle nuances. But let’s start with the beginner’s rules for now.

When explaining keno to amateurs, some gambling connoisseurs compare it to the lottery. This is at least nearly correct, in that each game is essentially numerical. However, to take that comparison too far might be to belittle the endless unique characteristics that make keno so entertaining. Unlike bingo, keno players have the ability to pick the numbers for each card.

Keno cards have a grand total of eighty numbers, but the gambler is furnished with an increased level of personal responsibility by being able to choose as many (or as few) numbers as she thinks is appropriate. And it doesn’t take a super genius to come up with how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all your selected numbers with a normalmarker like you used when you were in third grade.

After you’ve checked your numbers, carry your card back to the nice person at the keno booth. The keno pit manager will record those numbers and then give you a receipt. Make sure no to drop this (potentially) expensive piece of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your pretty face and wants help out, without a winning ticket with you, you will collect precisely $.00 for your actions.

Ok, there you have strategy #1: always make sure to keep your keno ticket. Let us get on to something a little bit more useful, ok?

After you’ve selected your numbers, settle into a comfy keno booth and see the action unfold on a monitor. That’s where the winning numbers appear for all to see. If you’ve got winners, mark your card aptly. Make sure not to take too much time, or sit there congratulating yourself for too great a length of time. You really want to get up to the keno stand to get your winnings, and a new keno game will surely get going within 5 minutes.

Strategy number 2: always be sure to get back to the keno stand on time!

Since you can’t trust yourself to beat that 5 minute deadline every time, you always retain the option of purchasing a "multi-race" ticket. These include the self same set of your picked numbers on anywhere from two to 20 tickets. When the max number of rounds (matching the number of tickets) is completed, you can then get off your lazy butt and go get your winnings.

Yet an additional alternative is known as a "stray and play" keno ticket, which normally lets you make number choices for 30 games or more. Gosh, you can take all the time in the world and not have to worry about getting back in time to get your winnings. Most "stray and play" cards are good for up to a whole year after purchase!

So now you know a few required schemes for winning keno. If you are a knowledgeable player, they might appear to be quite obvious. But it will never hurt to study up on the fundamentals, and if you are a new gambler, every bit of direction will help make your keno playing more entertaining.
